A fantastic experience last night inside the Vodka Ice Bar at the Lizard Creek Hotel. Situated just at the side of the main bar area, we were provided with heavy duty Helly Hansen parkas then the three of us headed inside and two of the three of us had a Vodka tasting session.
It was -10 C in there. Everything was made of ice, including the bar and the glasses. At the end we picked up the glasses and smashed them to smithereens on the floor, Fin loved that bit.
I've never been much of a Vodka person, always thought it was something to mix a long drink with and would never of thought about drinking neat, but these were all surprisingly nice and contrasting. The six we tried each had something about them, possibly my favourite was the Elit Stoli, a very pure vodka only from Russia, very crisp and clean. The others were from all over the shop, USA, Canada, Europe. Quite possibly the most distinctive was the Van Gogh Espresso - tasted just like a serving of Tiramisu. Quite delicious.
Anyway this was an experience not to forget, although I have to admit my head is a little sore this morning.
