Driving to Nelson

On Wednesday 21st March we left Fernie and moved on to Nelson.

Despite both Fernie and Nelson being in British Columbia, this involved a change of time zones from Mountain Time to Pacific Time, the net effect of which means we gained an hour and are now seven hours behind the Uk as opposed to six.  In theory we could keep heading west and gaining the odd extra hour, but in reality we'd just get wet in the Pacific Ocean.  Also we have plans to travel North to Revelstoke on Sunday, so its probably better we stick to that and stop being time greedy.

It was a long way.  The best part part of 320km and 4 hours if taking the short route, but us being us decided to take the scenic detour via the East shore of Kootenay Lake and then the ferry across the lake to Balfour.  This took around 6km off the journey but added a bit of time, mainly due to the ferry crossing, but we wouldn't have had it any other way.  It really didnt feel that long, the roads are quiet and easy and the car is really comfy.  The ferry crossing was easy enough, just a short hop but time enough to grab some lunch and a coffee. And no charge for the ferry, it's just considered part of the road network.

Have a time-lapse of the journey but that's gonna have to wait a while.  Ta ta for now ....

Short wait for the ferry at Kootenay Bay

We had to endure this type of view

Just before the ferry crossing we came across the Glass house, made from recycled bottles

Ferry crossing, that's our white car

While waiting to drive off the ferry, noticed this vehicle and suspect it
 might not satisfy UK MOT
